"I am not really happy with my performance" - Vladi on his initial games in the LEC, rise from the ERLs and integrating Canna into Karmine Corp

Karmine Corp lost both its games in Week 2 of the LEC 2024 Summer Split. The second game was a chaotic match against Team BDS where the French organization failed to find its footing due to lack of synergy during important moments and being outclassed in terms of map rotations and overall macro. Despite this defeat, Karmine Corp has a 2-3 record and a decent chance at making the playoffs stage.

A notable standout for Karmine Corp so far has been rookie mid laner Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis. The 18-year-old Greek was promoted to the main roster from Karmine Corp Blue and is quickly making a name for himself as a promising talent and one to watch out for in the future. After the loss against Team BDS, I had the opportunity to chat with Vladi.

Vladi talks about Karmine Corp's teamwork issues, experience in the LEC, and thoughts on the current mid lane meta

Q: Hello Vladi. Commiserations on the loss. It was a pretty crazy game against Team BDS. How are you feeling right now?

Vladi: I am a bit sad because we ended on a 0-2 week and I felt like we could do a 2-0 week 100%. Today's performance wasn't good at all but I think the preparation and drafts are also not the best right now.

Q: How has the experience been for you so far as a rookie in the LEC?

Vladi: It's exciting to play on the LEC stage for the first time and I was expecting to be quite nervous but I don't feel that when I am on the stage. I just lock in and play the game and it's exciting having the crowd in front of me.

Q: Does Karmine Corp's enormous fanbase give you any extra pressure or does it serve as a motivation to perform well?

Vladi: Personally, I don't feel any pressure. It's just another form of motivation to do better and win for the fans and win for yourself. It's for sure a great form of motivation for me.

Q: Do people need to give more time for this Karmine Corp roster to gel together and improve on communication as there are three new faces in the roster with one of them being Canna, a Korean?

Vladi: Yeah definitely. We are a new roster and Canna is coming to EU for the first time. His English is not the best but I think we did good throughout the first month and our communication was good. We are trying to connect Canna with us and we are having fun. I think our comms are getting better from day-to-day.

Q: It's only been five games so it might be a bit early to ask but are you satisfied with your performances in the LEC so far?

Vladi: I think I can do better for sure. I am not really happy with my performance. I don't think I was that good. I can always do better and right now I am not fully satisfied with how I am performing.

Q: You are more of a player who likes to play assassins such as Akali, Sylas, Yone, and Yasuo. Do you find the current mid lane meta boring?

Vladi: It's obviously boring. Having Sylas, Akali and other champions like that is fun for both the crowd and me. I think this meta also suits me as there are a lot of champs that I play. This meta is good but I would obviously prefer assassins.

Q: I have been following your career since your time in Team Refuse. You quickly rose the ranks as one of the best mid laners in the ERLs and now find yourself in the LEC. What do you think of this incredible rise in your career in a relatively short time?

Vladi: I didn't really expect to go to the LEC after a single split in a major ERL. However, I was very confident during my time in the minor ERLs that I could make it to a major ERL like the LFL and perform well. When I went to the LFL, I was fully confident that I could make it to the LEC.

Q: Any thoughts that you would like to share with the Blue Wall supporting Karmine Corp and you?

Vladi: Thank you for the support. I know the results are not the best right now but we are trying our hardest. We will make sure we get to the playoffs and do better than what we are showing right now.
