Fnatic has secured a top-three spot in the LEC 2024 Summer Split Playoffs after a resounding 2-0 victory against SK Gaming. After a six-game losing streak, including a 0-2 defeat against Team Liquid at the Esports World Cup, Fnatic has bounced back in the Playoffs and are looking to hit their stride at the right time. Fnatic will once again play against G2 Esports in the upper bracket final.

After the team's victory against SK Gaming, I had the opportunity to sit down and have a chat with ADC Oh "Noah" Hyeon-taek.

Q: Hello Noah! Congratulations on the win against SK Gaming. How are you feeling at the moment after securing a top-three spot in the Summer Split?

Noah: I am feeling good but I said before that we need to win versus G2 Esports. If we can win against G2, I will be even happier.

Q: It was a very comfortable win for Fnatic. How happy are you with the team's performance?

Noah: We were playing around mid lane and top lane a lot. I was just chilling and our top, jungle, mid, and support played better than SK. I played well in the teamfights too so I am happy with our performance.

Q: How would you rate Fnatic's chances against G2 Esports in the upper-bracket final in the team's current form?

Noah: The most important thing for us to keep performing well. We played very good today. I think our ceiling is better than G2 so if we all play well individually, I think we can win for sure but G2 is the strongest team in EMEA and they are playing very well. We should work harder and focus more to defeat them.

Q: You were very open about your struggles with mental health after a weak performance at MSI 2024. Dr. Jonathan Chung recently joined Fnatic as the new performance coach. How helpful has he been in your recovery after the MSI?

Noah: I think our performance coach is a very good person. He has helped the team a lot but I am still performing quite bad internationally such as Esports World Cup. I need to improve myself and play better internationally. In LEC, I don't have any problem and I am playing well but I only have problems in international games.

Q: What went wrong for Fnatic at the Esports World Cup?

Noah: I think Team Liquid played as a team but we didn't. We were not playing together and trusting each other. I still believe that if we play good and trust each other then we can beat G2 as we are better than them individually.

Q: Why do you think Fnatic still has problems with playing together in-game at times considering the team has had enough time to build synergy?

Noah: This is a problem that comes from scrims. When we are playing good in scrims, we play good on stage. When we play s*** in scrims, we don't play together and perform well on stage. So I think our performance in scrims is the most important thing for us.

Q: You had the chance to play in the ERLs with Zero Tenacity and the LCK Academy with KT Rolster Challengers. What are some of the differences you have seen that allow Korean tier-two to produce more young talents compared to the EMEA tier-two?

Noah: The first thing is that the Korean scene has PC bangs. Due to this, people can easily play games which allows more talented players to develop. Another difference between the ERLs and Korea is that everyone practices a lot in Korea. They play solo Q and scrims as soon as they wake up until they sleep all the time.

When I came to the ERLs, they didn't practice a lot. They played scrims and only played solo Q if they wanted to. However, everyone practices a lot more in the LEC which is a bit better.

Q: Do you have anything you would like to share to the fans supporting Fnatic and you?

Noah: Thank you to all the Fnatic fans. We won six games straight and we lost six games straight. I think it was painful for the Fnatic fans but we are trying to fix it and we have almost figured it out. We still have a few things to improve on. I want the fans to stay with us and keep supporting us. Thank you.
