The Overwatch Champions Series 2024 World Finals has officially concluded, and fans witnessed some of the best matches in the game's esports history. Hosted at the DreamHack Stockholm 2024, the tournament did not have a definite prize pool. Rather, Blizzard decided to use 25% of the revenue generated from the sales of the Neon Streets Bundles, which converted to around $500,000.

Team Falcons won the tournament dominantly. They did not lose a single match and took home the $200,000 prize. The Grand Finals between them and Crazy Raccoon ended with a scoreline of 4-1. We got the opportunity to talk to Kim "Shu" Jin-seo from Crazy Raccoon after the tournament concluded.

Q) First off, congratulations on the incredible run at the OWCS 2024 World Finals. What were your initial thoughts after the grand finals against Team Falcons?

First of all, I want to sincerely apologize to our fans. They must have had high expectations, but we ended up showing results that fell short of them. We'll hone our skills in the off-season and come back to win the championship next season!

Q) What was your game plan heading into the finals, and do you feel it worked as intended?

Unfortunately, the results didn’t turn out as well as we had prepared for.

Q) What do you think was the most challenging aspect of facing Team Falcons?

It’s difficult to counter a 2 flex DPS meta, like the previous one, that plays to their strengths.

Q) How did Team Falcons' hero choices influence your strategy in the finals?

It’s hard to say that their choice of composition significantly influenced our strategies or tactics. From the outset, all teams preparing for the last tournament ended up using a single composition.

Q) Looking back, do you think there was a specific turning point in the grand finals where things could have gone differently?

Looking back, there doesn’t seem to be much we could have done during the matches themselves. I feel we should have prepared a Plan B in advance, in case our pre-planned strategies and tactics didn’t work out, especially before the Winners’ Final and Grand Final.

Q) How did the atmosphere at Dreamhack Stockholm 2024 impact your team? Did the energy of the live crowd boost your performance or add pressure?

Rather than feeling pressured, my desire to show our fans a great performance grew even stronger. That’s why the outcome of the last tournament is so disappointing.

Q) Aside from Team Falcons, which team in the tournament gave you the toughest fight, and why?

NTMR was the toughest during practice. Most teams used the same composition during the whole competition, but their playstyle seemed to work well against us. Personally, I expected them to achieve better results in the last tournament.

Q) Crazy Raccoon displayed incredible teamwork throughout the tournament. How do you plan to use this experience to grow stronger?

Although the results of this tournament didn’t meet expectations, I firmly believe the experience we gained will serve as an invaluable lesson for next year’s Overwatch Championship. I have no doubt that next year, we won’t just win two global tournaments like this year but will secure victory in all three international tournaments.

Q) What’s next for Crazy Raccoon? Are there any specific goals or changes you’re considering for the future?

As I mentioned earlier, I want to win all three international tournaments next year.

Q) Finally, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans who supported you throughout this journey?

I truly appreciate all the passionate support this season. This year marked the end of the Overwatch League and the beginning of a new era for Overwatch esports under the name OWCS, which could be one of the most significant years in Overwatch esports history. Thanks to our fans, we were able to successfully wrap it up. Next year, I’ll make sure we win the OWCS final as well. Thank you!
