Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet revealed, new IP from Naughty Dog (TGA 2024 announcement)

Naughty Dog's next IP is Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet, a fresh franchise that puts you in the shoes of a space-faring bounty hunter. The announcement came as the final world premiere of The Game Awards 2024. For a night that has seen the reveal of The Witcher 4 cinematic and Elden Ring Nightreign, Naughty Dog's new IP is the perfect bow to tie it off.

So what do we currently know about Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet? Admittedly, not much. But when has that stopped us from getting excited about a video game (looking at you GTA 6)?

Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog's new franchise

Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet has been in development since 2020. Naughty Dog describes it as their "wildest, most creative story yet." The protagonist is Jordan A. Mun (portrayed by Tati Gabrielle), a bounty hunter who decides to go to Sempiri - "a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago."

The official blog post continues:

"In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit."

Nothing more is known about Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet beyond this. Naughty Dog assures that the title lives up to their "tradition of creating an emotional, character-driven epic journey". Furthermore, the new title is reportedly "the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog's history."

While only Jordan's actor has been confirmed for now, the announcement does clarify that there's a "stellar cast" in play. Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet will also feature original soundtracks from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Given the game has already been in development for around four years, we expect to learn more about it in 2025. With Naughty Dog's track record at creating some of the best video game titles around, we are extremely interested to see what lies in store for us in their newest venture.
