Aaron Keller, the Game Director for Overwatch 2, in a recent post on X, stated that he has been working on a detailed "Director's Take" addressing the concerns for a 6v6 format. With no particulars about the potential ideas discussed in the comprehensive blog, Keller said it would be an elaborate document that would require a few more days to develop to ensure localization.

Will Overwatch 2 feature 6v6 in upcoming updates?

While unconfirmed whether Overwatch 2 will feature 6v6, the latest from Keller offers a glimpse of hope in the current situation. His message essentially communicates that developers have taken note of the 6v6 chatter and the team has discussed the matter. The upcoming document will provide greater clarity on the specifics.

Ever since the power creep of different Hero classes, and worse, the gross state of competitive imbalance in Overwatch 2, players have become helpless and frustrated with the situation. Consequently, there has been a rising demand for 6v6 to level the playing field. With the most recent Season 11 mid-seasonal update, fans are convinced more than ever, that it would be the top solution to this problem.

Since OW2's debut, developers have routinely struggled to restore harmony to the game's competitive scene. The transition from 6v6 in the previous edition of the game into the 5v5 format left Heroes either grossly underpowered or the sole meta pick.

With Keller's document, the community might see a resolution to this longstanding issue. OW2 is a title beloved by many and the disharmony might stagnate the game's growth. Should a 6v6 be added to the game, players can expect a more competitive scene than today.
