Larian Studios opens new Warsaw branch, confirms new RPGs in development

Following the success of Baldur's Gate 3, developer Larian Studios has announced the establishment of its brand-new studio in Warsaw, Poland. This is on top of a surprise reveal that two "very ambitious" RPGs are in the works, facilitating the need for a brand new development studio to aid production.

These updates were announced via the official Larian Studios account on X, with the team also revealing multiple job listings at the new studio.

With the opening of the new Warsaw studio, Larian now boasts a total of seven branches around the world: Barcelona (Spain), Dublin (Ireland), Gent (Belgium), Guildford (England), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Quebec (Canada). Notably, Polish developer CD Projekt also congratulated the company's new milestone, with the Witcher creators now facing stiff competition in their homeland.

While CEO Sven Vicke previously stated that he and his team would like to take a breather and develop a less complex title after the launch of Baldur's Gate 3, they seemed to have changed their minds. It is unclear what these two projects are, but one of them may be Divinity Original Sin 3 given the CEO revealed that a third entry will no doubt happen.

The monumental success of Baldur's Gate 3 was seen by many in the gaming industry as an anomaly, as it is another shining notch in the Belgium-based gaming developer's strong portfolio of stellar RPG offerings. That said, fan expectations for these future projects will no doubt be high after last year's DnD behemoth blew every other competitor out of the water.
