M5 World Championship, the biggest Mobile Legends Bang Bang tournament, is around the corner. The top 16 MLBB teams will lock horns in Manila from December 2, 2023, for a prize pool of USD 900,000 and the all-elusive title of the best MLBB team in the circuit.
The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Moonton Games to co-host this year’s tournament. Moonton Games PH Esports Head Logan Shaw says:
"The Philippines is one of the biggest Mobile Legends: Bang Bang markets and among the strongest regions in MLBB esports. It is prime time to host the M5 World Championship in Manila, and we are excited to bring local and global MLBB communities together in this memorable event.”

M5 World Championship: Schedule, venue, and more
There will be two major phases of the tournament. The first one will occur in Malaysia from November 23 to November 26, 2023. This Wild Card tournament in Malaysia will present another chance for teams to enter the year's biggest MLBB fest. Only two teams can get the Wild Card to enter the world championship.
After that, the 16 MLBB teams will arrive in Manila, where the second phase will kick off. Group stage games will occur from December 2 to December 7, 2023, and the first Knockout stage will take place from December 9 to December 12, 2023.
After another two-day gap between December 13 and 14, 2023, for the M Summit, the Knockout stages will resume on December 15, 2023. The tournament will conclude with the Grand Final on December 17, 2023.
Teams from the Philippines, Indonesia, Latin America, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, the Middle East and South Africa, Turkiye (Turkey), CIS, North America, Myanmar, and other regions will participate in this competition.
Venue for the tournament
The Wild Card will take place in Jio Space, Lot 1, Jalan 19/b, Seksyen 19, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, from November 23 to November 26, 2023.
The Group stages and the first Knockout Phase will occur at the EVM Convention Center, 37 Central Ave., Quezon City, from December 2 to December 12, 2023. Then, Rizal Memorial Coliseum, Ocampo St., Malate, Manila, will prepare for the second Knockout phase and the Grand Finals.
Ticket information
There are two different types of options available for visitors. Viewers can get the PH Super Pass, which gives access to all the matches featuring Filipino teams.
This entitlement applies to different matches in which the MPL PH representatives are participating. This USD 51.70 pass holder will have seats in the legend area in Group Stage games and Mythic space in the Grand Finals.
However, fans purchasing the MVP Pass will have access to front-row seats along with express access for team meet-and-greets. They can also receive M5 World Championship merchandise like iconic T-shirts, caps, and keychains.
The M5 World Championship is likely to help boost tourism in the Philippines
In a meeting held at the EVM Convention Center, Moonton Games met with the DOT to sign the MoA that cements the official endorsement of the tournament in Manila. The game developer and the Department of Tourism have created a framework to welcome thousands of fans who will arrive for the tournament.
DOT Chief of Staff Atty. Mae Elaine Bathan said:
"We are proud to be part of history as we welcome participants in our country. We know many Filipinos play and support the game. Today, our esports industry stands on the edge of this tremendous growth, attracting a diverse audience, and we would like to take advantage of this diversity and convert them into tourists who love our country and explore further the bounty of our nation.”
He further added:
"Our secretary and the Department of Tourism have pushed further to embrace esports as an integral part of our Sports Tourism landscape."
