Metroid Prime 4 finally gets an official gameplay trailer after a series of development delays. Subtitled "Beyond," it is set to release on Nintendo Switch in 2025. The game was announced at the Nintendo Direct June 2024 showcasing an all-new adventure for the beloved bounty hunter Samus Aran. This was followed by in-game footage running at 60 FPS as is the series norm.

After much anticipation over a decade, this is great news for fans who have been waiting with bated breath. Here's everything to know about Metroid Prime 4 Beyond coming to Nintendo Switch.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond gets debut gameplay at Nintendo Direct June 2024

Showcasing the iconic heroine and her spaceship landing on a mysterious planet in a throwback to the series' origins, this is the best-looking game in the franchise's history yet. Borrowing an art direction similar to the recent Metroid Prime remasters, this will be the next step forward in Samus' fight against the Space Pirates.

Familiar mechanics such as first-person lock-on combat, environmental scanning for clues and lore tidbits, and the morph ball to squeeze through tight spaces return as she explores ruined labs and facilities across the galaxy.

We also see the return of Sylux from past Prime games, and he's the antagonist who seemingly can control Metroids, the titular alien species prominent throughout the series' history.

As the trailer nears its end, we also get a look at natural environments as well, suggesting that free-form, non-linear exploration will be intact; all of this is rendered at a smooth 60 FPS frame rate that the series is known for. All that remains is the final launch.

While a concise date was not provided, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond launches sometime in 2025 for Nintendo Switch.
