Moonton Games, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), and Esports Integrated (ESI) Malaysia have come together once again to host MPL Malaysia Season 14. Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY), Malaysia's pioneering esports event, has brought plenty of professionals to the competitive scene of the game.

Therefore, the community has been incredibly excited about the MPL Malaysia Season 14. As per Esports Charts, the first week's online viewership has broken the previous record.

Online viewership of MPL Malaysia Season 14's opening match broke previous record

According to Esports Charts, the tournament's opening game (Selangor Red Giants vs HomeBois MY) on the first week of the Regular Season has broken all the previous peak online viewership records. 245,841 people tuned in to watch the clash between the champion and runner-up of the previous season.

Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, the Marketing and Business Development Lead at Moonton Games, has said:

"The league has experienced steady and significant growth since being established in 2017. Then, we only had 6,544 PCV. Today, we are the most-watched tournament in Malaysia. Much of the league's success is due to our constant innovation and commitment to never stay stagnant, as well as the efforts and investments from our teams and partners. These have all contributed into making a competitive and entertaining league enjoyed by hundreds of thousands across Malaysia each match."

The first week of MPL Malaysia Season 14 first week review: Match results

Selangor Red Giants, last season's invincible champion team, has begun their journey by defeating HomeBois Malaysia 2-1 in the first game of the tournament. They have successfully snatched five points to climb to the top of the Regular Season table of MPL Malaysia Season 14.

Since HomeBois arrived with a new roster after losing almost all its members to Team Vamos during the offseason, the community was not expecting much from the team. However, they put up a great fight exposing Selangor Red Giants' weak points in the opening game. This might give other heavyweight teams a boost of confidence.

Team Vamos is off to a dream start. With the previous HomeBois players, they managed to beat RED Esports 2-0 and took second place. Muhammad Nazhan "Chibi" bin Mohd Nor was named the MVP of this game.

The first match on the second day of MPL Malaysia Season 14 first week has seen one of the longest-running matches as RSG MY and Team HAQ, two heavyweights from the Malaysia MLBB Esports scene, locked horns. The match went on for 39 minutes and 33 seconds, at the end of which Team HAQ emerged victorious. This was a significant week for Team HAQ as they are currently playing without a coach, and their coach will only arrive in the third week.

MPL Malaysia Season 14 Week Two fixtures

The second week of MPL Malaysia Season 14 will bring clashes between some of the heavyweight teams of the tournament. The Week Two games will begin on September 13, and will end on September 15, 2024.

This season, the top Malaysian teams are more motivated than ever as Malaysia will host the M6 World Championship tournament, MLBB's flagship international event. As the host country, two teams from this tournament will earn direct qualification to that event.
