YouTuber Nerd City has recently come under fire from netizens for defending the actions of YouTube creator Herschel "Dr Disrespect" during Episode 30 of the TBH podcast. For those unaware, Dr Disrespect had been accused of having inappropriate conversations with a minor through Twitch Whisper in 2017. This was later admitted by the streamer himself as part of a post on X.

In the podcast, Nerd City appeared to be making a comparison between Dr Disrespect and former YouTuber Bryant "EDP445," who had previously been accused of grooming and attempting to meet a minor. Implying that the internet was treating Dr Disrespect as if he was EDP, he said:

"Right now all the memes are basically... they're going, 'His tweet confirmed the allegations'. No, they didn't, exactly. They confirmed that something was inappropriate. But what they're saying on Twitter is like p*do, CP, memes with CP, over and over. It's like he's getting a meme reputation as if he's EDP, right? As if he got, as if he got caught actually like showing up at a hotel with a bunch of booze trying to sleep with a kid or whatever." [Time stamp: 46:00]

The TBH podcast is co-hosted by well-known content creators Jay "Dolan Dark", Niall "Pyrocynical", Oliver "Colossal is Crazy" and Nerd City. It focuses on discussing current affairs within the content creation community and various corners of the internet.

In Episode 30 of the podcast, released on July 8, 2024, the co-hosts discussed the drama surrounding Dr Disrespect which had gripped the internet in June. However, Nerd City has been criticized by netizens for proposing a theory that seems to give Dr Disrespect the benefit of the doubt regarding the situation.

Nerd City proposed that the Doc may have used a sexual innuendo as part of his mentorship program, which could have then been interpreted as a sexually inappropriate conversation with a minor. He said:

"Yeah, it's a mess. If there is any, if there's some sexual, like, pun to this that they are pretending on purpose was sexting when... that's what he would've called it to someone who he actually was mentoring... so it's possible there's some innuendo that has to do with like, 'It's the big d**k club' or something. 'And I'm going to teach you how to make your d**k bigger by getting more followers.' It's like it could've been like that." [Time stamp: 1:02:54]

Users on Reddit have since actively called out Nerd City, with many stating that he is engaged in a "downward spiral. u/redditor329845 said, "Nerd City’s been in a downward spiral for a while." On the other hand, u/Evinceo suggested that he might not have clarity on the matter saying, "But... he... confessed?"

As per reports, it was confirmed that Dr Disrespect was aware that the individual he was conversing with was a minor. Despite this, he is said to have indicated this not to be an issue and continued his advances.

Further, the gravity of the situation seems to have been identified by Twitch as well, as per reports made by industry insider Rod "Slasher." He claimed that Twitch had reported the Doc "for a fact" to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children after he was caught.
