Apex Legends recently received the mid-seasonal update for Season 21, showcasing a new lobby bug that shows you can play Ranked in a four-player squad. However, it is impossible to do so as the competitive playlist is strictly restricted to the Trios format. While it doesn't cause significant issues in the game, it might need to be clarified for a percentage of the player base.

This article will highlight the most recent lobby bug in Apex Legends Season 21.

The June 25, 2024 update for EA's battle royale title replaced Solos mode from the casual playlist with Quads. This seems to have affected the main lobby screen for Ranked mode and shows up with three extra slots instead of two. For all the curious fans, you cannot enter a competitive lobby with a squad of four members.

This seems to be a visual bug and will likely be fixed by the developers alongside other bugs that might surface in the future weeks. This issue started with the launch of Season 21 Split 2 after the update went live for all players. However, it's not a bug that can be fixed on the user side and needs to be patched with a permanent fix.

The Quads lobby screen might have been set as a default screen for the entire game and could potentially be the root cause of this visual bug. Although playing Ranked mode in a four-member squad sounds like a thrilling idea, it is highly unlikely that EA or Respawn has such plans in their roadmap.

Fans can queue into Quads casual mode to experience the newfound chaos that ensues throughout the battlefield. Introducing such a change to the ranked matches would require a long list of balance changes to provide a fair gameplay experience for the entire community.
