A new CS2 bug has recently surfaced that can seemingly turn even a pistol into a fully automatic weapon - rapid-fire. Even using the knife becomes much faster than it usually should be and scoped weapons like the AWP, SSG 08, and more shoot bullets at significantly increased rates. As of this writing, it seems that the bug has not caught Valve's attention.

An X post went viral showcasing a player shooting a Glock-18 and an SSG 08 in rapid-fire mode. It's important to note that this CS2 bug only occurs on the client side.

New CS2 bug gives players rapid-fire on all weapons

The rapid-fire mode is merely a visual CS2 bug. This is because it only reportedly works on the client side. The bug seemingly activates after players enter the "+attack" command in the console.

This triggers the issue which is then only seen by the player who entered the command. The rapid fire too is just observed on this player's screen. Everyone else present in the game sees normal functioning.

The player in the clip demonstrates multiple weapons. With the Glock-18, the rapid-fire speed almost doubles when switched to the burst-fire mode. With the SSG 08, it looks as if the zoom-in animation triggers but cancels midway before the gun shoots in rapid-fire.

This bug was reported on June 20, 2024, just around the same time as the game's 25th anniversary which was June 19.

Many fans had expected a new update or case releases, but unfortunately, Valve did not release any new content. Moreover, the bug was discovered soon after the C4 bomb collision bug was fixed.

It seems as if the game still struggles with issues that keep appearing with such bugs surfacing every once in a while.
