Overwatch Classic mode starts on November 12
As mentioned, based on the recent trailer, Blizzard is finally bringing back the Overwatch Classic mode in Overwatch 2. Since it's a limited-time mode, it'll be available in the events hub along with the Arcade section of the main menu. Players can access this limited-time mode from November 12, 2024, to December 2, 2024.
As per the trailer, players can use the original Overwatch Hero roster comprising 21 Heroes along with 12 maps. The OG maps will include Assault maps like Hanamura, Temple of Anubis, and Volskaya Industries. The rest of the maps like Dorado, Route 66, and Numbani will be played on the Overwatch 2's reworked version.
Moreover, as seen in the trailer, there'll be no role limits out of the box for the first few days. Later, the developers will enable a single Hero limit, organizing the Hero classes into four classic categories: Offense, Defense, Tanks, and Support. The Overwatch community is brimming with excitement as they'll cherish their good old Heroes in their original form, as seen in Overwatch patch 1.0.
Despite providing tonnes of information about the upcoming Overwatch classic game mode, the main concern remains whether it'll be integrated into the main title.
According to Blizzard's blog, the developers aren't planning to implement this mode right off the bat. However, after the conclusion of this upcoming mode, they'll likely work on community feedback and look to reveal more information regarding its second phase.
