OWCS 2025 to introduce new esports team skins and bundles

After the conclusion of the recent OWCS Finals 2024 event, the Overwatch 2 esports tournament is set to return in 2025. Blizzard Entertainment aims to make the future event even more streamlined, including new incentives for players to look forward to. This includes the ability to purchase skins and cosmetic bundles for their favorite teams.

OWCS 2025 will introduce new esports team cosmetics for Overwatch 2 players

Here's what the team had to say in the blog post:

"You’ll be able to express your fandom for your favorite teams in and out of the game. Towards the back half of the 2025 OWCS Season, you can support your favorite teams by purchasing in-game bundles, as each Partner will have a team pack in-game featuring their branding and colors on skins and other items."

This is part of the Overwatch Championship Series Team Partner Program, allowing up to eight teams to sign up for the tournament. Interested teams can register starting from December 2, 2024. Partner Teams will have their cosmetics featured in the in-game Overwatch 2 store, letting fans purchase their favorite skins from the bunch.

This is similar to what Blizzard Entertainment has been doing with their OWL skins while the Overwatch League tournament was ongoing in the past. That said, it is unclear if these special cosmetics will be purchasable using existing in-game Overwatch 2 Coins or Credits, or if the developers will introduce a new one.

Previously, fans could earn OWL Tokens by watching live Overwatch League matches on platforms like YouTube, which then allowed for purchasing some truly striking cosmetics. With OWL being scrapped as of last year, OWL Tokens were also taken out of business.
