Popular IRL streamer Emily "ExtraEmily" has been banned on Twitch days after facing severe backlash for driving while using her phone. The OTK member has become a staple on the purple platform for her fun and goofy real-life vlog-style streams after starting her career in 2020. This appears to be her first suspension from the website.
The news was reported first on social media by the popular StreamerBans bot and is going viral on X (formerly Twitter). Considering her suspension came days after a clip of her driving at night while looking at her phone garnered criticism online, many believe this action of hers might be the reason she's been removed from Twitch temporarily.

Why was ExtraEmily banned from Twitch? Fans think it was because of the distracted driving clip
IRL streaming has seen steady growth in popularity recently, and Emily has become one of the most recognizable creators in this genre on Twitch. With over 200K followers, she frequently collaborates with fellow OTK members and other streamers while traveling around America. That said, she also spent hundreds of hours playing various Mario games on her channel.
For those unaware, on October 12, a clip of one of ExtraEmily's recent streams started gaining a lot of traction on social media, with many calling her out for using her phone while driving. While the original video has been deleted, here is popular streamer xQc reacting to it from Reddit.
xQc clearly echoed the critics and criticized her for using her phone while driving. He asked his chat how keeping up with a Duolingo streak takes precedence over safe driving, saying:
"I got to ask chat, Duolingo? How is that a priority over anything? To f*cking look at Duolingo?"
Irrespective of what she was looking at, it is clear that many agree that what she was doing was highly dangerous. Streaming enthusiasts might remember how a Twitch creator ran over a dog while distracted driving in Poland and was subsequently banned from the platform.
Here are some of the general reactions from the streaming-related subreddit to the clip of her using her phone while driving.
With TwithCon Las Vegas drawing near, fans can only hope that ExtraEmily gets unbanned before then. Considering this is her first suspension, it's unlikely for her to be banned for more than a week. However, only the streamer herself can offer clarification on the matter.
