PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2024 complete format explained

The PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2024 is just around the corner. During the event, 49 clubs from across the world will showcase their strength and skills to win the title. So far, 47 teams have already been chosen, with the remaining two set to be selected in the next few days. The tournament will boast a mammoth prize pool of $3 million, the same as its 2023 edition.

The PMGC 2024 is scheduled to take place in two phases: the League Stage and the Grand Finals. The League Stage will be played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, while the Grand Finals battle will happen in London, United Kingdom. The tournament will commence on October 31, 2024, and wrap up on December 8, 2024.

PMGC 2024 format and dates

The format of the Global Championship 2024 will mirror that of its previous edition. The League Stage consists of 48 teams and will be organized in three rounds: Group Stage, Survival Stage, and Last Chance.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the format:

Group Stage - October 31, 2024 to November 17, 2024

The 48 teams will be seeded into three groups (Red, Green, and Yellow) for this initial round. Each group will feature 16 teams playing 24 matches.

The best three teams from each group will directly progress to the Grand Finals. Teams ranked between 4th and 11th from each group will fight it out in the Survival Stage. The remaining five will be eliminated from the PMGC 2024.

Survival Stage - November 20, 2024 to 22, 2024

This three-day stage will feature 24 teams from the Group Stage. These teams will be divided into three groups and will contest in a round-robin format. The 16 best teams from the overall points table will advance to the Last Chance, while the bottom eight will get knocked out.

Last Chance - November 23, 2024 and 24, 2024

The top 16 teams from the Survival Stage will play 12 matches across two days. The top six will be given a ticket to the Grand Finals, while the rest will be eliminated.

Grand Finals - December 6, 2024, to December 8, 2024

The three-day Grand Finals will feature 16 teams. Namely, nine teams from the Group Stage, six teams from the Last Chance, and one team directly invited from the host region. The UK's Guild Esports has received a direct invite to the Finale.

The PMGC 2024 features top-tier teams from many regions, with defending champions IHC Esports directly being awarded a spot in the League Stage of the Global Championship.
