After the conclusion of the Global Championship 2024, PUBG Mobile made history by becoming the first mobile game to surpass the $100 million all-time prize pool. Honor of Kings, a MOBA mobile game, was second on this list with around $88 million. Free Fire and Mobile Legends Bang Bang ranked third and fourth with $23.5 and $22 million respectively.

Tencent and Krafton had invested around $868,000 in the overall prize pool of PUBG Mobile tournaments in 2018. In 2019, the publishers hosted many big events and invested a total prize pool of $4 million. The year saw a significant increase in its users across the world.

In 2020, Tencent introduced two big events; PMPLs and PMGC. The company invested around $9 million in the prize pool that year. It was another successful year for the game.

The company increased the total prize pool to around $23 million in 2021, with PMGC alone featuring a humongous prize pool of $6 million. It is still the most popular tournament of the game with a peak viewership of 3.8 million. The inaugural edition of the World Invitational (PMWI) was also held that year.

A massive prize pool of $24.8 million was invested in 2022 and many PMPLs were organized across several regions. The year once again saw two international tournaments, including the PMWI and the PMGC.

In 2023, the publishers invested $22 million in the prize pool. Both the international events — PMWI and PMGC — boasted $3 million each. PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL) was introduced that year but it was hosted only in Southeast Asia.

2024 saw a decline in the overall prize pool as the publishers hosted esports events with a bounty of $16 million. However, a total of three international tournaments were organized this year.

The publishers have already announced the roadmap for the 2025 season. There will be three global events and several regional tournaments, with a prize pool of $10 million set to be invested. The game will also reveal a new map on its seventh anniversary in March 2025.
