Splitgate 2 has been announced by developer 1047 Games. The Portal-like multiplayer FPS is set to receive a sequel, which will also be free-to-play, just like the current one. Splitgate became an imminent hit after its release in 2021. Popularly known as "when Halo meets Portal", this multiplayer FPS garnered almost 10 million players in the first 30 days of its release. However, the player base declined with time and the developers stopped active development for Splitgate. Now, the developers have announced Splitgate 2, and it looks like they are reviving the game to its best potential.

While we are yet to have an official release date, Splitgate 2 is slated to release in 2025. The developers have notified us that they will reveal more details regarding its release later this year.

What can we expect from Splitgate 2?
According to the developers, some elements of the sequel will be similar to the game's current version, and it will use the same portal mechanics as it does right now. However, the upcoming game will look and feel completely fresh and new. Splitgate 2 will be visually more enhanced as it is being made in Unreal Engine 5 and the entire game is created from scratch.

One of the biggest changes that players will see in Splitgate 2 is the introduction of factions or classes. Just like XDefiant or Overwatch 2, Splitgate 2 will also have faction-based operators, where each player will have unique roles to fulfill. Given Splitgate's portal mechanics and fast-paced gameplay, we can expect more innovation from players in Splitgate 2.
