Street Fighter 6 Mai release date revealed

Street Fighter 6’s next character, Mai Shiranui officially has a release date, thanks to one of Capcom’s latest tweets. Everyone’s favorite kunoichi is leaving Fatal Fury/King of Fighters for now and will join Terry Bogard as one of this season’s guest characters. This came with a trailer that showed off what Mai will be able to do in SF6, when she finally leaps into action — and she certainly looks promising.

Mai was revealed for Street Fighter 6’s Season 2 back in June 2024, but her February 5, 2025, release date is drawing near. If you’re excited about Mai bouncing into SF6, it’s only a few weeks away.

Street Fighter 6’s Mai set for a February 2025 release date

Street Fighter 6’s next character, Mai has an official release date of February 5, 2025. While it would have been interesting for her to join on her birthday (January 1), fans won’t have to wait long for the next character to bounce their way into battle. She also appears to come with her Fatal Fury 2 music, which is an excellent choice.

If you’re a fan of fiery fans, cartwheel kicks, and juggles, you’re not going to want to miss out on Mai in SF6. She brings with her some fan-favorite moves back with her. Her normals — in particular, her kicks — also appear to have fantastic reach.

Mai Shiranui is the third character of the Season 2 content drops, following Terry Bogard and M. Bison back in 2024. She has fantastic, tricky moves, and can close the gap to deal damage without much effort.

The Capcom team did an amazing job putting a character that definitely feels familiar to Fatal Fury fans, while also fitting the aesthetic and gameplay of Street Fighter 6.

At this time, we don’t know what her special inputs will be; whether they’re traditional SF6 inputs or if Mai will have Fatal Fury inputs. However, we do know she's coming soon, and February 5, 2025 can't get here fast enough.
