An all-new adventure lies on the horizon with The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. Announced at Nintendo Direct June 2024, it will launch on September 26, 2024, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch hybrid console. This new series entry differs from the rest in the sense that it features Zelda as the playable character for the first time.

While the gameplay is a traditional action-adventure fair, new elements ensure it is as innovative as the latest entries such as Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom have been.

The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom will let players control Zelda to save Hyrule

Boasting the same aesthetics as the 2019 remake of The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening, this new isometric adventure combines the non-linear, almost immersive-sim-esque aspects with the series' tried-and-true structure. After mysterious rifts appear across the kingdom of Hyrule and gobble up the kingdom's savior Link, it is now up to Princess Zelda to save the day.

Accompanied by the fairy Tri, she obtained a magical artifact called the Tri-Rod that is capable of copying items and objects as well as replicating them as needed. This allows for unique and non-linear problem-solving opportunities, like copying a table to use as stepping stools to get past tall walls. Combining different replicas or "echoes" as the game describes it is key to progressing.

As for combat, players can copy objects like rocks to hurl at foes. And if that's not enough, enemies can be turned into echoes as well, which will fight by Zelda's side when summoned. Each monster also boasts distinct powers and abilities, so combined with object echoes, the possibilities are endless.

The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom will launch on Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024.
