"The time taken to develop this port was crucial": Poppy Playtime devs announce Chapter 1 Xbox release [Exclusive]

Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 is set to arrive on Xbox on July 12, 2024, with a price tag of $4.99. The pre-sale for the same will begin on July 5. The indie horror survival game has been a popular staple among fans ever since its release in 2021. An Xbox port has been a long-requested community demand and the devs are finally responding to it.

On the topic of the Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 Xbox release, I had a quick chat with Zach Belanger (CEO) and Seth Belanger (CCO) of Mob Entertainment. Read the excerpts below.

Devs "thrilled to bring Poppy Playtime to Xbox"

The Xbox port has been in development for some time now, with players often asking on social media when the horror survival time will arrive on the green console. With the announcement finally arriving, Seth chimed in:

"We're thrilled to bring Poppy Playtime to Xbox, allowing both new and existing players to immerse themselves in the captivating world we've created."

Zach further continued:

"The time taken to develop this port was crucial to ensure Xbox gamers receive the high-quality gameplay, graphics, and overall experience that our fans have come to love and expect from Mob Entertainment."

Xbox players will be happy that the developers have taken their time to ensure a quality and immersive gameplay experience with the port. While the game initially launched on PC (Steam) in 2021, it later arrived on Android and iOS in March 2022 and on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch in December 2023. Xbox had remained the odd one out till now.

The official blurb for the Poppy Playtime Xbox release states:

"Chapter 1 brings players into the abandoned Playtime Co. Factory as a former employee returning to find out what happened to the employees who vanished. With GrabPack in hand, explore the factory to solve puzzles, follow the clues to help you get closer to the truth, and fight for your life as the toys terrorize you."

Currently, Poppy Playtime has three chapters - Chapter 1 (A Tight Squeeze), Chapter 2 (Fly in a Web), and Chapter 3 (Deep Sleep). The latter two are premium DLCs, with Chapter 2 available on Windows and Android & iOS and Chapter 3 only being available on Windows.
