Twitch streamer and speedrunner Clint Stevens revealed in a recent Mario Kart 8 Deluxe stream that he has lost his partner status. Though his checkmark is still seen on Twitch as of this writing, Twitch Tracker shows him listed as an “affiliate.”

Though the streamer didn’t seem to be too upset about it, many of them on social media feel it’s deserved, considering how seldom Clint actually streams on the platform.

However, the reason Clint Stevens is no longer a Twitch partner isn’t due to anything he has done while streaming. It’s all because he didn’t sign what he called a “weird contract thing,” and his lack of streams.

Twitch streamer Clint Stevens loses partner status and fans agree with the move

While playing Mario Party Superstars with a number of other content creators such as Mango, Connor, and even Ludwig - who recently announced a new big-money Poker tournament - Twitch streamer Clint Stevens revealed he lost his partnership status. However, he didn’t use any racially charged words or say anything regrettable on his stream. It all seems to come down to him not being bothered to sign his contract. When asked why, he explained it:

“I didn’t sign some weird contract thing, so, I don’t have a checkmark next to my name anymore, and I’m an affiliate now.”

The Twitch streamer confirmed he still has a sub button, but he gets “lower rates” now because he’s an affiliate and not a Twitch partner as he used to be. However, the streamer didn’t seem to be upset about losing “a dollar per sub,” as one of his friends in voice chat suggested.

After the clip, Clint Stevens said that he just had to sign the contract - though he wanted to read it first, he didn’t feel he had a choice. That is if he wants his Partner status back.

Some people were baffled by how disinterested the Twitch streamer was in his contract, with other netizens agreeing. The lack of a “professional baseline” for streamers confused some viewers. When coupling that with the fact that streamers can do almost anything they want on the air with almost no consequences, they don’t feel like “real people.”

Others were annoyed, even angry, about the Twitch streamer’s indifference to losing the partnership. One Redditor mocked Clint for barely being qualified to work at McDonalds and that maybe then, he’d feel like he threw his life and good fortune away.

Even long-time fans of Clint Stevens feel like it’s deserved. The fact that he almost never streams should preclude him from being a partner, according to many regulars on the LiveStreamFails subReddit. Others would joke about this Twitch streamer losing his partner status, but Moonmoon gets to keep his.

For a time, Clint Stevens was one of the most-followed speedrunners on Twitch, and likely still is, despite streaming so infrequently. As of now, we do not know if he will receive his Partner status back.
