Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 has taken the community and Steam charts by storm. It has broken the 200k concurrent player mark within hours of the global launch. The game has set a new benchmark for the grimdark genre, and fans cannot get enough of it.

It's no secret that running around in Mark X Power Armor and purging Xenos quickly became the most sought-after activity to do over the weekend. There's nothing as entertaining as watching a Primaris Marine put a Power Sword through a filthy Tyranid, and the numbers do not lie.

If being the top-selling Steam game hours before early access went live on September 4, 2024, was not enough, Space Marine 2 is now breaking the player count. Based on the information obtained from Steam, it is currently sitting at 58 on the "All-Time Peak" column for concurrent players.

It's taken a prestigious place under other co-op/multiplayer titles such as For Honor, Path of Exile, The Finals, and many others. Suffice it to say, the grimdark is here to stay and will only grow in popularity over time.

To gather more proof, you wouldn't have to look very far as Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is currently ranked fourth under the "Current" column for concurrent players. It trails behind heavy hitters such as Banana, Dota 2, and of course Counter-Strike 2.

Suffice to say, with more players joining the ranks of the Ultramarines Chapter each passing hour, there could be upward of 300k players soon enough. With a steady flow of content coming soon alongside support and fixes for ultrawide, the sky seems to be the limit for Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2.
