MLB 9 Innings is a popular mobile baseball game, licensed by the MLB and MLB Players Inc. Rich Grisham, the business director at Com2us' — developer of MLB 9 Innings — appeared on a hit podcast called "Foul Territory with Scott Brown" during the MLB All-Star Weekend, and we had a chance to talk to him about the game ahead of MLB 9 Innings 24's launch.
We started by asking him to explain the Ghost Runner rule for beginners, before highlighting other important aspects of the game like the addition of the historic player and more.

A: I would describe the Ghost Runner rule being added to our game—meaning a runner starts every inning in extra innings on second base to improve the chances of the team scoring—as a great example of how we seek to have MLB 9 Innings be as authentic as possible to the real world of Major League Baseball.
From the gameplay itself, the Ghost Runner is in League play, ensuring that the player's experience matches what they see on the field every day in extra-inning games.
Q. What is next for the community after a successful All-Star Game event?
A: We are always delivering new and exciting in-game events for players to enjoy, and this year is no different. As we head into the MLB Pennant Race and Postseason, there will be lots of new opportunities for players to enter themed events to earn rewards and compete against their friends in exciting ways.
We cannot yet announce any specifics as we are finalizing all the details, but there are definitely more events coming this year that will appeal to new fans and veterans alike.
Q. Any update on the upcoming players in the Historic Players section and their ratings?
A: Our community loves the Legends that are added to MLB 9 Innings over the course of time, and we are always thrilled to bring new Legends to the game. Baseball is a sport steeped in history, with over 150 years to draw from. There will definitely be more Legends added to MLB 9 Innings in 2024 and beyond, but we cannot announce exactly who they are or what their ratings are just yet. They are coming, though!
Q. Will a normal 2024 card turn into an all-star if he was voted as such?
A: We add new All-Star cards for players, keeping them separate from their Live cards. There is a great team deck effect for All-Stars if you have a full lineup of All-Stars, and our fans love collecting those cards to make their teams even more fun and competitive.
Q. What is your favorite player in the game and can you share your views on how a perfect roster should look like?
A: I am partial to Mike Trout and Ken Griffey, Jr. Both of these amazing players not only deliver incredible results in the game, but they are also genuinely great individuals who we have worked closely with for years in MLB 9 Innings.
It’s so wonderful to have a personal connection to them, and then to see their digital avatars crushing home runs and helping me win games all the time!
Q. While many reviews on the digital storefront state that there isn't a lot to complain about, we know the developer never wants to miss out on a chance to make the game better. Can you share some future plans for the game?
A: We are always looking to add new features, modes, events, and competitions into MLB 9 Innings. Our long track record of delivering these kinds of experiences proves that out, and is one of the biggest reasons millions of fans play every day! We can’t share any details yet about future enhancements, but we can assure everyone that we are always designing, testing, and adding new things to MLB 9 Innings every year and will not be stopping!
