XDefiant had a successful launch, reportedly attracting almost 8 million unique players during its launch week. According to a report published by Insider Gaming, Ubisoft's free-to-play first-person shooter had 7.6 million unique players at the time of writing, which is expected to rise to 8 million by the end of its first week. The numbers far exceed the company's internal goal of 5 million players.
Despite multiple launch delays and server errors during the launch period, XDefiant was still a huge hit among many players, particularly those who fancy FPS titles.

It should be noted that unique players are those who downloaded the game and opened it for the first time. While it does not guarantee anything in terms of the game's longevity, these are still impressive numbers coming from a title that previously disappointed players with its multiple launch delays.
While XDefiant might have not brought anything groundbreaking in terms of gameplay, it did introduce several changes that FPS fans have been asking for in existing titles. This includes the removal of SBMM in casual play, which is a huge issue in FPS giant, Call of Duty.
Ultimately, only time can tell whether the initial statistics will be sustained in the long run. So far, XDefiant executive producer, Mark Rubin, has been commended by the community for being an active listener of player feedback. Hopefully, this can translate to something great for the game in the years to come.
