Onimusha debuts gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2024

After nearly two decades, Capcom has finally announced a new Onimusha title during The Game Awards 2024. While fans received a remastered version of Onimusha: Warlords in 2018, the new game, titled Onimusha: Way of the Sword, is set for a 2026 release.

Though details are scarce, Onimusha: Way of the Sword's gameplay trailer revealed visually stunning graphics and impressive combat.

New Onimusha game announced at The Game Awards 2024 amid anticipation of Resident Evil 9

As the lights dimmed at The Game Awards 2024 and the Capcom logo appeared on the screen at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, many fans anticipated a new Resident Evil trailer. Instead, they were surprised by the gameplay trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

While the trailer showcased promising combat and excellent fighting mechanics, little else is known about the game, apart from the fact that it won't be released in 2025 on the RE Engine, created by Capcom for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

Years ago, Capcom was hacked, and during this attack, it was revealed that a new Onimusha title was in development. It wasn’t until The Game Awards 2024 that fans received an update.
