With the Deadpool and Wolverine movie making box office records, this might be an opportune moment for Marvel Rivals to add these two characters to the game. NetEase Games's upcoming hero-shooter title has already assembled an impressive roster of iconic superheroes (and supervillains) from the Marvel Universe, and it was fun to tinker around with.
That said, after watching the movie, the idea of these two anti-heroes in Marvel Rivals and the infinite possibilities of their crude interactions has me yearning for more. Deadpool's quirky and salty persona paired with Wolverine's gruff outlaw style - it's going to be one hell of a matchup.
In my opinion, the Deadpool and Wolverine movie should push the developers to think about the possibility of adding these two icons to Marvel Rivals. Read on as I explain exactly how I imagine these two characters would ease into the game and why their addition is necessary.

Why should Marvel Rivals add Deadpool and Wolverine to their roster?
Marve Rivals already has characters spread across the entire comic-verse, which makes the addition of Deadpool and Wolverine fairly easy. We have popular X-Men characters like Magneto and Storm in the game already. Given how this game completely ignores any boundaries and mixes all the characters to create a true "multiverse", Deadpool and Wolverine would mix well into it.
We see characters from X-Men, the Marvel TV Series, alternate timelines, and so much more. As much as I want to go on about this, it would spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it. In short, Deadpool and Wolverine has more multiverse-related content than many other prominent mainline Marvel movies and series.
This idea perfectly coincides with the overall theme of Marvel Rivals, and we all know that both Wolverine and Deadpool are among Marvel's most popular characters. With the ongoing hype created by the movie, the addition of these two characters would send shockwaves of delight instantly throughout the entire Marvel fanbase. Even a non-gamer would want to dive into the game to try it out!

Deadpool, with his fourth-wall-breaking humor and unconventional tactics, would undoubtedly bring a fresh and engaging dynamic to the gameplay. His unique abilities and personality would surely entertain players. If a little bit of his foul mouth is retained - the possibilities of the chaos and hilarity are truly endless. On the other hand, Wolverine's serious nature and brute gameplay style can be quite a force to be reckoned with.
Deadpool and Wolverine in Marvel Rivals: A tale of a Vanguard and his Duelist
Now, I would not be penning down my opinion if I did not already have some of their abilities and interactions already in mind. If it were up to me, Wolverine would be an interesting brawl Vanguard, with his claws and advanced physical prowess. Deadpool, on the other hand, is going to be a Duelist unit, who can use his guns and his sword.
Wolverine's fierce moves would deal a significant amount of damage, but let's not forget Magneto can control metal. It would be fun to see how these two Vanguards interact in the game since the former has a particular distaste for Eric anyway in the Marvel-verse. (As a Wolverine fan, I hate Magneto too.)
Deadpool could be a long-range shooter with his pistols, and then for his ultimate, the dual adamantium swords could come out slashing through the enemies and dealing significant damage. Overwatch 2 fans and Genji mains reading this would be elated by now, but Deadpool will finally be rid of Genji's primary problem of "I require healing".
Both Deadpool and Wolverine have regenerative abilities, which means their passives would allow them to heal automatically over time. Wolverine has something special though. For those who have played Spider-man: Web of Shadows, remember how Venom's Symbiote can interact with Wolverine as well?
Since we already have the Symbiote Bond team-up passive in Marvel Rivals, that would extend to Wolverine as well. A hulking Wolverine with healing, indestructible adamantium claws, and a Symbite power-up? Come on NetEase just add them to the game already, and make this happen!
Since Marvel Rivals already has a multiverse-centric plot, the inclusion of Deadpool and Wolverine to their roster can be a great way to capitalize on the current hype, as well as give Marvel fans exactly what they want right now.
As a dedicated fan of Wolverine (and Deadpool), I will eagerly await their addition to Marvel Rivals, as would a lot of other Marvel fans, I'm sure.
