Overwatch 2 Juno hero trailer breakdown: Abilities and playtest date

After being revealed last year at BlizzCon, Overwatch 2's upcoming hero Juno has received her debut hero trailer. Previously dubbed "Space Ranger", this Support character will drop alongside Season 12 on August 20, 2024, while her full kit will be officially elaborated upon tomorrow, July 19, 2024, with a limited-time in-game trial.

That said, we still have plenty to work with from her character gameplay trailer released by Blizzard Entertainment, highlighting intriguing new abilities.

These are bound to shift the meta in new ways, so let's see what kind of playstyle Juno will bring to the table from Overwatch 2 Season 12 onwards. Here are the details.

Overwatch 2 Juno abilities and playtest date explored

Juno is a space explorer whose kit centers around mobility and healing allies. Here's the full rundown:

• Mediablaster (Primary Fire): Burst fire weapon that heals allies and damages foes.
• Pulsar Torpedoes (Secondary Fire): Press Secondary Fire to lock on to targets, then press Primary Fire to unleash a barrage of projectiles that heal teammates over time and damage enemies.
• Glide Boost (Ability 1): Allows gliding horizontally with increased movement speed.
• Hyper Ring (Ability 2): Deploys a ring that increases the movement speed of all allies that pass through it.
• Orbital Ray (Ultimate): Calls down a massive ray from the sky that moves forward. Allies in its range will be healed while also dealing increased damage to enemies.
• Martian Overboots (Passive): Press Jump while airborne to double jump; also holding Jump allows hovering.

All in all, she seems like a fairly reliable Support hero. Her verticality ensures she can glide to safety while still attacking foes and healing allies. She can only buff players as evident by the Hyper Ring ability that works like Lucio's Speed Boost. It will be interesting to see how much speedier a five-man squad can get with both Juno and Lucio on the team.

Players will be able to test her out themselves when the limited-time playtest drops tomorrow, July 19, 2024, and ends on July 21. After that, Blizzard Entertainment will no doubt want to balance her further so post-playtest, will see her in Overwatch 2 Season 12, which will arrive on August 20, 2024.
