Overwatch 2 is a team-based FPS that consists of 35 different heroes. These heroes come with their unique sets of abilities, personalities, weapons, and playstyles. These heroes have different roles to play in the team, which include tanks that can defend their teams, supports that can heal them, and DPS that can deal massive damage to the enemies.

Who is Soldier: 76 in Overwatch 2?

Soldier: 76 is a DPS hero who uses his powerful hitscan pulse rifle to deal steady and accurate damage. His abilities allow him to endure the battle much longer than other DPS heroes. Since his abilities include precision and constant damage, getting him a vantage point in the battle can prove useful. He can mow down enemies effortlessly.

What changes were made to Soldier 76?

There were changes made to Overwatch 2. However, one of the biggest changes was making the teams 5v5 from 6v6. This meant individual players had to contribute more to the team than before. To balance this out, the heroes were revamped too. Each role was given its unique passive ability. DPS heroes, such as Soldier: 76, received the passive ability to gain a 25% increase in movement speed and reload speed.

Soldier: 76’s abilities in Overwatch 2

Heavy Pulse Rifle

This is the signature weapon of Soldier 76. It is a precise weapon with a reliable hitscan. This means players don't have to control the projectiles, which makes this weapon extremely useful for hitting airborne targets such as Pharah and Mercy. This automatic rifle has 30 rounds per clip and vertical recoil. This weapon is ideal for mid-range combat.

Helix Rockets

Heavy Pulse Rifle has a secondary firing mode which does area damage with the Helix Rockets. These rockets are shot in a single go and do 120 damage upon impact. The splash damage of this attack is 80. However, since there is area damage, players can often damage themselves, so it should be used carefully.

Sprint

This ability allows Soldier 76 to scale across the map quickly and efficiently. This gives Soldier 76 a 50% increased movement speed. This ability doesn't have a cooldown and lasts as long as this course of action isn't broken by doing something else. Because of this, he can use it to get into a fight or retreat from one if necessary.

Biotic Field

This ability restores 35 health points to Soldier 76 and any nearby allies within the biotic emitter range. This ability makes Soldier 76 more sturdy than other DPS heroes. However, this has a cooldown of 15 seconds, so using it at the right moment is necessary.

Tactical Visor

This is the ultimate ability of Soldier 76. When activated, Soldier 76 can lock onto enemies and pinpoint them. The enemies closest to the crosshair can be hit by Soldier: 76 with pinpoint accuracy. This ability is excellent when used from a vantage point, as Soldier 76 can defeat enemies effortlessly.

How to play Soldier 76?

In Overwatch 2, one of the most balanced-out heroes is Soldier 76. This is the reason most new players choose to play with him. His abilities are simple and easy to learn. Despite being a DPS, he can support his allies with the "Biotic Field." With the "Sprint" ability, he can scale the battlefield with 50% greater movement speed. Soldier 76 is the jack of all trades. He is great for mid-range combat, but enemies with greater range and more vertical mobility can defeat him due to the lack of vertical mobility.
