It has been a while since the Tanks received balance modifications, which left the developers to come up with several new changes to implement into the game. As the Heroes have been feeling lackluster for the last couple of seasons, players are looking forward to the upcoming balance changes.

Several Overwatch 2 Tanks balance changes will be introduced in future patches

In the recent Director’s Take, developers at Blizzard Entertainment stated that the Overwatch 2 Tanks balance changes update is scheduled for future implementation since the Tank heroes are not working as intended. The Tank’s role is to block or absorb most of the incoming damage, however, in recent seasons, they have lost their "tankiness". To improve this situation, the developers introduced other balance changes including less headshot damage to Tanks, knockback reduction, and passive health regeneration.

Although the aforementioned balance changes have impacted the game quite a lot, the tanks are still not as robust as they should be. As a consequence, the developers have noted that there have been many situations when both of the healers or supports have to heal the Tank to keep it alive on the battlefield. This is a problem since the DPS units can get eliminated when no Support heroes are watching or healing them.

Additionally, a patch will likely be rolled out along with either the Season 11 mid-season patch or in Season 12. The developers at Blizzard Entertainment have disclosed that they will be fine-tuning each of the heroes excluding Wrecking Ball in the Overwatch 2 tanks balance changes update to make them compelling again.

While the changes haven't been revealed, they stated that a buff to Reinhardt’s shield will help him regain his tankiness. Apart from Reinhardt, the developers will be tuning each of the Tank heroes by looking at their pick rate, skill tier, platform, and win rate.
