"Overwatch killer?": Marvel Rivals achieving a feat on Steam sparks debate in community

Marvel Rivals recently reached the 80% positive review threshold on Steam, earning the “Very Positive” rating under the ‘All Reviews’ section. However, this feat has sparked comparison with its competitor, Overwatch 2, with fans seeming to greatly prefer this game over Blizzard’s shooter.

One user, named @TB EGO, even went ahead to call it the "Overwatch killer," believing that Marvel Rivals might take over the iconic Blizzard Entertainment shooter's spot:

“Overwatch killer?”

Many fans observed that everyone was in love with the game and that the negative reviews were due to a few bugs and errors that would possibly be fixed soon. User @xmrkazzx exclaimed that the game was amazing and that they would support it forever:

“You have an amazing a game I will support you till the very end!!”

The reactors, however, did not stop at just comparing the two titles. Some were convinced that Overwatch 2 could never reach the level of popularity Marvel Rivals has. A user named @mal even went on to call Blizzard’s game “overflop.”

The fans were mostly praising the game for being incredible, stating that it deserved the positive feedback on Steam. User @Insanity commented that it had fired up the competitive drive they had been lacking for a really long time:

“This is so amazing to seee! This game has fired up my competitive drive to gaming, something I haven’t had in a very long time”

User @Gazfolk, however, had a more neutral stance towards both titles. They explained that they enjoyed playing both Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals and seemed glad to see the NetEase title getting more recognition.

Marvel Rivals is turning out to be a strong competitor for Overwatch 2

NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals belongs to the same genre as Overwatch 2, which is hero-based competitive shooter. Ever since its release, the game has received far more praise than Blizzard’s title. Although partly owing to the Marvel background, many have found Marvel Rivals very entertaining, and consider it a better alternative to Overwatch 2.

On the other hand, the iconic Blizzard shooter title has been receiving a lot of mixed reviews lately and the community is far from happy with the current state of the game. It is frankly monotonous and has been lacking fresh content for a while, which has been the major reason for its downfall.
