OWCS 2024 season calendar: Schedule, competitive updates, and where to watch

The third stage of OWCS 2024 is set to shine the competitive spotlight on Overwatch 2 once again. Various teams will be fighting to take the trophy and mark themselves in the game's hall of fame as one of the greatest. As the year's fall season approaches, Blizzard is bringing the competition to DreamHack Stockholm, where only the best of the best Overwatch players will be able to duke it out for the OWCS trophy.

OWCS 2024 schedule

Stages 1 and 2 of OWCS 2024 have already concluded, with Crazy Raccoons taking the win during the Major in Dallas. Now Stage 3 has commenced and the event will last till the very end of August. Below you can find the official starting and ending dates for Stage 3 and Stage 4 of the Overwatch Championship series.

Stage 3 (August 9 - September 1)

• Roster Lock: Aug 9
• Swiss: Aug 9 to Aug 11
• Groups Week 1: Aug 16 to Aug 18
• Groups Week 2: Aug 24 to Aug 25
• Main Event: Aug 29 to Sept 1

Stage 4 (September 20 - October 13)

• Roster Lock: Sept 20
• Swiss: Sept 20 to Sept 22
• Groups Week 1: Sept 27 to Sept 29
• Groups Week 2: Oct 5 to Oct 6
• Main Event: Oct 10 to Oct 13

Grand Final (DreamHack Stockholm)

• OWCS 2024 Grand Final: Nov 22 to Nov 24

Overwatch Championship Series (OWCS) Competitive Update

Blizzard has made a few tweaks to the competitive format for the ongoing stage 3 of OWCS 2024. Here are the new rules that have been implemented:

• Top 4 Auto Qualification: The top 4 teams from previous stages will automatically qualify for groups given they retain at least 3 of their 5 core roster and are in good standing.
• Auto Qualifier Seeding: AQ teams get #1 seeding in each group; First place will get #1 in Group A, second place will get #1 in Group B, and so forth.
• When a Top 4 team does not qualify: In this case, the team will need to play the Swiss stage and the Auto Qualifying team below it will move to the Group stage.
• What it entails for the rest of the Swiss teams: The Top 12 Swiss teams advance to groups with 4 AQ teams. If any one of the top 4 fails to do so, an extra Swiss team will be given the slot. But no team will be able to take the #1 Slot of the group.
