Now that Juno in Overwatch 2 is available for playtest in non-competitive modes, the Overwatch forums have been flooded with mostly negative reactions. Players have voiced their discontent over the Martian Support’s kit. She’s the 41st addition to Overwatch’s Hero roster.

Overwatch 2’s game director Aaron Keller had teased this Martian Hero way back in Blizzcon 2023, and the community had high expectations regarding her distinct set of abilities. However, it all went down in shambles once they got to experience it for the first time.

According to user u/dante-_vic, despite one of the key aspects of Juno’s kit being her erratic movements and flying, she wasn't up to their expectations. However, her overall kit “seems fun”. They went on to say:

"Her flying isn't as good as we thought it would be but she seems fun."

It’s quite evident from most of the comments that Juno in Overwatch 2 lacks the usual flawless movement, unlike the mobile Support Lucio. According to them, her flight is “very restricted”, making her a vulnerable character to Hitscan Heroes.

Moreover, they can’t reach certain parts of the maps with her awkward movement between high-octane fights. Meanwhile, Juno’s Mediblaster can’t inflict critical shots, making her a comparatively poor DPS character than many Support Heroes from the list.

u/singlefate expressed their concern over Juno’s ultimate Orbital Ray. According to them, Blizzard developers must rework the ability as players worldwide are unable to choose the ultimate starting position on the map. Instead, the ultimate starts near the character itself, making it hard to use the ability effectively. The user commented:

"The ult is awkward to use. They need to change it so you can choose the starting position instead of it just starting on her position. Makes it extremely limited on how it is currently."

Users like u/GoopyPegasus have pointed out some major issues with Juno in Overwatch 2. According to them, the Martian Hero’s Hyper Ring has barely any usefulness in-game as it only boosts the movement speed of her teammates. Blizzard's design team must think beyond implementing only heal and speed boosts to the Support characters.

The Hyper Ring is merely a worse version of Lucio’s Speed Boost or Kiriko’s Kitsune Rush. The developers must rework this ability and add a few extra parameters to make it more useful.

Juno’s Pulsar Torpedos aren’t as scary as it seems. Playing a Tank character or taking cover behind walls will counter the lethal damage it dishes out. On the other hand, even if players want to heal multiple targets with her, Lucio and Ana still be viable options considering the amount of heal from Juno in Overwatch 2.

u/GoopyPegasus also complained about the “awkward and terrible” movement for Juno in Overwatch 2. According to them, despite adding homing rockets to Juno's kit, she’s unable to reach higher spots. Additionally, her ultimate needs a rework as it only focuses on the positive impacts on her teammates. As a result, it makes the ability less impactful unless it deals significant damage to the opposition.

All in all, these less impactful kits leave players with no reason to pick Juno exclusively over other Supports like Lucio or Ana. The Martian Hero will face a hard time blending in with the current meta in Overwatch 2. Blizzard should rework the Martian support to increase her usability during dire situations. Till then, players worldwide will mostly cater to other viable Support characters in-game.

Will Juno in Overwatch 2 be a viable Support option?

As mentioned previously, with the current state of the Martian Support Juno in Overwatch 2, she’ll face a hard time fitting into the current Overwatch 2 Support meta. This character also isn't something that players can make a great impact on in-game.

On the other hand, some users are satisfied with her movement ability and mentioned she’s a fun character to play with. However, considering the massive outcry over the Martian Support on several Overwatch 2 forums, Blizzard developers need to tweak most of her abilities to make her more impactful in critical situations.

Since it's just a playtest session, we hope to see a more polished version of Juno in Overwatch 2 upon her final release in Season 12 of Blizzard’s in-house 5v5 Hero shooter.
