Squirtle in a war? Not the best weapon to have

A Pokémon battle is tough, especially when you do not have the right set of Pokémon by your side but a real life war zone is the last place you would expect to see anyone play Pokémon let alone take out their phone to play the newest game.

Louis Park, who has been deployed to Iraq to fight the menace of ISIS, was able to bag a Squirtle and he had this to say to the Verge, "Just caught my first Pokémon on the Mosul frontline by Teleskuf”. The 26-year-old also stated that a lot of regions within Iraq had gyms and Poke Stops as well, which is a bit weird, to say the least.
