Story
An ancient prototype bow weapon from Liyue's arsenal. The batch number has faded and no records exist to confirm the date of production.
More than fifty-year-old cudrania wood was ordained in gold silk and paired with the finest steel components to make this fine bow.
Despite being made from Irminsul branches that had stretched deep down into the earth, the bowstring is exceptionally pliable, guaranteed to never snap.
The house of Yun in Liyue promoted a set of legendary prototype weapons to break free of their constraints and bring a new age to the power of their forces.
An exceptional longbow that is mainstream among the armed forces.
The master craftsman Han Wu personally assembled this longbow at the request of his good friend Yun Hui.
He employed every trade caravan he could find to bring to him a plethora of resources. In the end, he chose to use cudrania wood, fine steel and Irminsul branches brought back from the abyss.
The result is a beautifully superior bow, sturdy and easy to grip, and cool to the touch.
The bow's arc is as beautiful as the crescent moon, albeit a darker shade, like a light moon hanging low amidst a foggy night sky.
When an arrow from the bow pierces the sky, the string's light is thin and cold, reminiscent of an unforgettable moonflow.
This resemblance has earned the bow the title of "Crescent."
Should its beauty captivate the people, then Liyue will be sure to see no shortage of similarly inspired bows.
Trivia
- Prototype Crescent, along with Prototype Rancour are the only weapons to not receive a name change in version 1.2.
- Northlander Bow Billet, the core item to craft a Prototype Crescent, is the rarest out of all the billets available.
FAQs
Is Prototype Crescent good?
Prototype Crescent is incredibly good on characters which do aim-shot damage. This is because its passive can be triggered only by hitting the weak spot of the enemy. This brings forth a lot of pros and cons for the weapon as it provides an incredible amount of ATK from both its secondary stat as well as passive.
Although sometimes you can not trigger the passive as a few bosses don’t have a weak spot at all. It is also dependent on good aiming, which can be pretty hard on certain devices. If you find it difficult to aim-shot, this weapon is the absolute worst for your characters and vice versa.
Is prototype Crescent good for Childe?
While the Prototype Crescent can be a massive damage boost to Childe, it will require you to adjust his gameplay. Before switching to melee stance, you need to aimshot into the enemy's weak spot. This will increase the damage dealt by you for 10 whole seconds. However, this adjustment can be quite difficult especially in places like the Abyss where quick switching is key. It is also quite difficult to aim-shot when you’re fighting multiple enemies at once, let alone aim-shot the enemy’s weak point. Prototype Crescent can be good or bad on Childe depending on the gameplay.
Is Prototype Crescent good for Sara?
Kujou Sara’s DMG boost as a support is based on her Base ATK. While the Prototype Crescent is the best out of all the craftable weapons for Kujou Sara, it is not the best weapon for her. Sacrificial Bow is good for her due to its energy recharge, which lets you use her burst attack. It also helps you use your DMG buff more often. However, if you’re looking for a maximum DMG buff sara, you can go for any weapon with high Base ATK.
Final Thoughts
Prototype Crescent is one of the few weapons that enable aim-shot in bow users as most bow characters focus on rapid auto-aiming. Because of this, this weapon is not the best on many characters but is incredibly good on characters like Ganyu who primarily deal damage through aimshots. While Prototype Crescent is incredibly good, it is also very gimmicky and reliant on a lot of factors for it to be used to its full potential.
