With the release of Operation New Blood for Rainbow Six Siege Y9S2 on June 11, 2024, players have reported several bugs hampering the gameplay experience during matches. Ranging from visual bugs to deadzone issues that are causing crucial problems, the community is urging the developers to take immediate action and fix the issues.

Having released after hosting a Test Server (TS), this new season is being discussed in the community's X threads. The persisting issues were supposedly reported weeks ago during the testing periods on TS but were not fixed before the game was pushed to live servers. Rainbow Six's X handle has posted about their ongoing investigations and the issues will hopefully be ironed out in an upcoming hotfix.

In this article, we will take a look at some of these bugs that are plaguing the players in Operation New Blood.

All the known bugs in Rainbow Six Siege Operation New Blood

Membership debiting funds twice

Players have reported that they are being charged twice for the Rainbow Six Siege Membership, which was introduced with Operation New Blood. The membership system was initially missing from the game and came out hours later after several game restarts.

Ubisoft support has stated that these issues are occurring when trying to purchase membership from Steam and that they are in the process of initiating refunds.

Players have been noticing several artifacting issues that are occurring in the game visuals when using the Vulkan API launch option. As a temporary workaround, Ubisoft has recommended using the DirectX launch option via their official X Handle.

Map lighting and brightness

Map lighting has become noticeably more vibrant and this has been prominent from the first match that players booted up into. It can irritate the eyes, so players are recommended to adjust their monitor colors to lower the digital vibrance and balance out the boosted colors of Operation New Blood until it is fixed.

Furthermore, upon round-end and in several regions of the map, the lighting seems dimmer, which has made players increase brightness levels. This counteracts the boosted color problem and has been causing visual murkiness in the game.

Kill feed is much smaller and difficult to notice

The kill feed during matches has become much smaller in scale, making it hard to observe during intense phases of a round. This is especially a nuisance for players on big monitors that range from 27" to 32" sizes and above. Gamers on higher resolutions like 2560x1440 or 3840x2160 will find this newer kill feed scale look comparatively much smaller.

Broken sound engine

The sound engine has been very inconsistent which veterans know is nothing new with a new season release. Nevertheless, some subdued sound issues persist where sound queues across the map can be heard as if they are right next to a player. These will hopefully get fixed with the hotfix due for Operation New Blood.

Rappel key bind

One of the biggest changes to come in Y9S2 was supposed to be Rappel changes. However, it got postponed to a later season and instead, Operation New Blood developed a dysfunctional rappel keybind. Players can reportedly reset keybinds to make them function again as normal. The more permanent fix for this, however, is being investigated.

Controller deadzones/sensitivity issues

Console players are having a rough time with their Xbox or PS5 controller deadzones being changed up. Some players have also reported changed sensitivities and this has caused some commotion in the console space of Rainbow Six Siege after the release of Operation New Blood.

PC defender camera deadzones

PC players have reported several cases of camera cursor deadzones when operating cameras or visual gadgets like Evil Eyes, Black Eye cams, and so on. Currently, micro adjustments do not register in the game making players lose precision with the in-game cameras. This has outraged the community because deadzone bugs like these should not exist on the PC platform.
