Player comfort and protection are also in the spotlight due to the increased cheater count during Year 9 Season 2 Operation New Blood.
In this article, we shall take a look at the Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 mid-season roadmap update and what the game has to offer in the second half of the year.

Rainbow Six Siege mid-season roadmap update ahead of Year 9 Season 3
Shooting Range access during matchmaking (Y9S3)
Players can hone their aim in Y9S3 while they wait for a match. When you search for a match, you can choose to go to the Shooting Range, and the game will take you to the training area.
Binary Hardening for player protection (Y9S3)
By implementing modifications to the game's code through the use of encryption and hardening techniques, Ubisoft will continue to improve game security. The mid-season roadmap update states that these upgrades will deter cheaters and make it more challenging to create new cheats in the future.
QB system expansion (Delayed to Y9S4)
The QB System is one of Rainbow Six Siege's security systems. Following a successful introduction in 2022, it was observed that some cheat makers had ceased to function. This Anti-Cheat team is currently working on an expansion of the QB System, which will supposedly be a game changer in disrupting cheat producers.
Siege Cup beta (PC) (Y9S3)
The Siege Cup will first be released in Beta with limited availability, originally exclusively on PC and in the North American and European countries. The Siege Cup will offer a highly competitive experience, and this testing phase will allow the developers to evaluate the feature while also monitoring server performance.
Balancing updates for Solis (part 2), Nokk and Dokkaebi (Y9S3)
Part 1 of the Solis update arrived with Y9S2. The latter half of the Solis update will be coming in Operation Twin Shells, which will hopefully look at the current underpowered state of Solis and try to revive her pick rate a little bit.
In the upcoming update to Dokkaebi, Ubisoft will directly address some of the issues her opponents face while ensuring that she remains an effective attacker. Furthermore in Y9S3, Nøkk will be updated to increase her usability and gameplay.
After-action report 2.0 (Y9S3)
The After Action report, which appears on the screen after the completion of a match, will undergo a complete redesign. This aims to bring a more fluid experience and show more information about individual players.
Badges and Career (Delayed to Y9S4)
Badges were introduced to ensure that players could display their hard-earned achievements in Siege. The mid-season roadmap update states that these will be delayed to Season 4 of Year 9 and will not be arriving with Operation Twin Shells. The Career page is also delayed which is supposed to serve as a new home for players who wish to keep track of their in-game metrics, rank, reputation, and other information.
Versus AI 2.0: Attackers (Y9S3)
The current Versus AI Beta allows users to compete against defending AI alone or as part of a squad. Versus AI 2.0, which is slated to arrive with Y9S3, will allow players to defend bombsites while a team of highly trained AI Operators attempts to invade and defuse the bombs.
Target drill and player onboarding (To be removed in Y9S4)
Since its release, Endless Drill has quickly become the new popular option for gamers to warm up and practice their abilities against dummies. With this in mind, the mid-season Roadmap Update aims to abolish Target Drill Y9S4 and replace it with Endless Drill. Endless Drill will be renamed Target Drill after becoming the only means to train against dummies.
