The Witcher 4, codenamed "Polaris," is probably the biggest thing Witcher fans are eagerly looking forward to right now ever since the news broke that CD Projekt RED is currently working on a new Witcher project. The recent perceived disappointment of the Netflix Witcher series has only raised expectations for this title even higher.
However, the community has once again come together to theorize new possibilities for The Witcher 4, as the voice actor of Geralt of Rivia in the previous trilogy has shared that he has been cast in the project but won't be the main character anymore. This implies that the story of Witcher 4 will not revolve around Geralt, opening the possibility for the Princess of Cintra, Ciri, to take the lead.

Ciri could be a good lead for The Witcher 4 (The Witcher 3 sequel)
While nothing has been confirmed yet, there's no harm in some light speculation on the matter. For the uninformed, Ciri, or Princess Cirilla, is the surrogate child of Geralt. The Witcher trilogy by CDPR has involved Cirilla in the story in one way or another. However, in the third game, she takes on a vital role.

In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Geralt spends the majority of his adventure looking for his daughter, who is being pursued by the Wild Hunt. In this game, players get certain instances where they play as Ciri as she escapes the Hunt. These segments portray how drastically different her playstyle is compared to Geralt of Rivia.
While Geralt's fighting style is mainly focused on his sword skills and different magic signs, Ciri's fighting style depends heavily on her eldritch powers. She can teleport behind enemies, travel at extreme speeds, and even hop between different dimensions. This can make her gameplay very fast and versatile in Witcher 4.
While the shift in fighting styles may not be very comfortable for some players of the franchise, the fast-paced, magic-heavy combat will undoubtedly be a breath of fresh air for the series. Speaking of freshness, it's about time we get a Witcher who is not all brains, but also has a heart.
In the books and games, we see Witchers as a practical bunch who don't let emotions cloud their judgment. While Geralt is an exception among most of the stone-hearted Witchers, even he has moments where his indifference causes various crises. However, Ciri is not like Geralt. She wasn't subjected to a torturous ritual to become a monster hunter.
Her blood doesn't have the poison of the Trial of the Grasses. Although she lost her kingdom and her family at a very young age, she found a loving father in Geralt and watchful guardians like Vesemir and other Witchers of the School of the Wolf. She also went through rigorous training, but it was never successful in turning her into an unfeeling demi-god.
In the end, we think the potential that Ciri brings, such as fast-paced combat and more empathetic choices in the main story, makes her more than worthy of taking the lead in the upcoming Witcher game. The fact that there are very few people in the community who are against Ciri taking the spotlight in Witcher 4 shows that Geralt has raised his daughter to be a worthy Witcher.
