Unlike the original Red Dead Redemption, your horse can die. In Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur Morgan's bond with his horse is more important than ever before. Horses aren't just vehicles to travel between two points.

There are four levels of bonding between a player and his horse and a new perk is unlocked at each eg. sliding or drifting (the horse equivalent). The level of bond with the horse is a deep system and will determine how the horse reacts to gunfire, resiliency in battle etc.
