Homeworld 3, the long-awaited return of the classic RTS franchise, has failed to capture the hearts of gamers in the way the developers had expected. Following a launch that was met with global disappointment, a Redditor u/erbdylo alleges that the developers are trying to salvage this scenario with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) bot replies on their X post. The user said:

"After a disappointing launch, Homeworld 3 tries to boost sentiment with AI."

The claim was originally made by u/SwimmingStale on the r/homeworld subreddit when they noticed an unusual number of positive remarks about the game on X. This sudden surge in positivity, the user argues, seems inorganic and possibly generated by AI accounts. The user goes on to say:

"Entirely organic opinions from definitely real human beings."

Members of the gaming community seem to agree with the sentiment, as the responses poured in supporting the AI usage claims. The comments in the original post have simple one-line sentences, but they do not seem like human-written content, as per the Redditors' opinions.

Sentences like "Where command meets comedy in cosmos" aren't something that a human would write on social media about a game. User u/Prosthemadera said about this line:

"Something a real human would say. Not."

Other users made light of several other alleged AI responses on the X post. All of the positive responses seem to follow the same theme, which makes the claim a plausible one. While these sentences do pack a hint of comical sense, they do not seem to be organic.

What's more interesting is the fact that the user handles of these accounts on X seemed to contain randomly generated numbers at their end too, adding some weightage to the AI claim.

Why did Homeworld 3 have a disappointing launch?

As noted by user u/count023, a part of the blame for Homeworld 3's poor launch can be accredited to the marketing team. Although the title made its way to our 2024 rumored game releases list, there wasn't any hype around the game that is launching its third installment after more than two decades. That, coupled with a storyline that despite adhering to the "comedy in cosmos" theme, fails to blend these elements properly. User u/SovietSpartan noted:

"Tbf HW3's storyline does feel like comedy at some points with how ridiculous and cringy it gets. It's way too much of a different tone and feel from the rest of the series."

Many other users agreed with this sentiment, which overall led to the downfall of the game immediately after its launch. While a comeback after a poor start is not unknown in the gaming world, only time will tell how Homeworld 3 will win back its fans and their loyalty.
