Seven potentially internet-breaking reveals possible for the Game Awards 2024

Below are our picks for seven games which may possibly receive some updates during this year's Game Awards show.

1) The Elder Scrolls 6

The sequel to 2011's highly-appreciated The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been in development for many years now, and for good reason. Elder Scrolls as a series has gained incredible popularity for its storytelling, large open world, and freedom to explore the campaign in any way players like, and the next entry is expected to be no different.

The 2018 announcement trailer by Bethesda provided fans with a glimpse into the pre-production stage of the game, but there has been no further media officially released for the game. The title will be made on the new Creation Engine 2, which was most recently seen in Starfield. A release date may not be on the cards, but Bethesda may showcase some footage or screenshots from the title at the show.

2) Death Stranding 2

Hideo Kojima's departure from Konami resulted in him creating his own studio, with 2019's Death Stranding being the first game. Starring Norman Reedus, the game is set in a desolate world with enemies all around. You control a courier (played by Reedus) who has to traverse this vast, empty land to deliver supplies.

Though some teasers were shown during the recent State of Play showcase by Sony, no official trailer or release date has been announced as of now. However, with a release slated for PS5 during the course of 2025, it is not out of the realm of possibility for an official reveal trailer at TGA, which is further ascertained given the good relations between Kojima and The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley.

3) The next "Souls" game by Miyazaki

The director of the Souls series of games is Hidetaka Miyazaki, and under his are the games that created the Souls genre, such as the Dark Souls trilogy, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and most recently, 2022's Elden Ring. Almost all of his games have been lauded by critics and fans alike, which can be seen in the recent success of this year's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring.

Shadow of the Erdtree has also been nominated in the "Game of the Year" category, which Elden Ring won in 2022. A potential teaser or announcement for the next entry by Miyazaki will be certain to have fans over the moon, no matter the eventual release date.

4) The next Witcher game

The Polish company CD Projekt Red are the creators of the incredible Witcher series, all of which feature the iconic Geralt of Rivia as the protagonist. Assuming the role of a Witcher, players traverse through beautifully crafted lands in the pursuit of taking down enemies of various scales and types.

The three entries in the series have all been well-received, but none more so than 2015's Wild Hunt. With almost a decade having passed since Witcher 3 was released in 2015, many eyes will be on the Polish company's potential announcements for the coming year.

A sequel in the Witcher series is certain to have gaming spaces abuzz with excitement, though a possible reveal could also be for a potential remake of the first game in the franchise.

5) The next God of War game

Sony has taken the reins of the incredible God of War franchise, handing players control of Kratos and later also of his son Atreus. The two games released under Sony, namely 2018's God of War soft series reboot and 2022's Ragnarok, have been well received and made their way onto PC recently.

Though a trailer may not be expected, given the rather recent release of Ragnarok, an announcement or even a teaser will be the spark needed to ignite lots of discussions and hype about the next entry in the series. It is speculated that this title will have an all-new setting alongside new characters likely to join the fray.

6) The next Naughty Dog game

Despite their long history, gaming fans will likely relate the mention of the term "Naughty Dog" with their incredibly successful and critically-received Uncharted and The Last of Us series of games.

However, the studio has not come out with any official news regarding a new title since 2020's The Last of Us 2, instead focusing on remasters and ports of their classic games. Given the four-year hiatus since the last new title, an announcement by Naughty Dog marking a new chapter in the Uncharted or Last of Us franchise will certainly get fans talking.

Since they are owned by Sony, a title making best use of the PS5 and PS5 Pro systems is likely to be the focus of the new game alongside their usually captivating stories.

7) Grand Theft Auto 6

Any new information regarding Rockstar's GTA 6 will be an immediate internet-breaking event. The first trailer for the game racked up a record for most views for a gameplay trailer on YouTube mere days after it was released, and the return of the neon lights in Miami-inspired Vice City has fans' excitement at an all-time high.

The title is also a contender for the "Most Anticipated Game" award, which we can be almost certain is set to be a landslide victory. However, Rockstar has been radio silent since the first trailer, and not even a single mention of a trailer, reveal date, promotional image, or anything remotely linked to the game, apart from some easter eggs in GTA Online, has been shared.

Since its inception in 1997, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has rocketed to the forefront of the gaming landscape. Should even a promotional image or some release information be revealed during the show, expect the same to fill your social media feed for the next couple of weeks.
