Dataminers shared that the new Apex Legends character Artemis will be Vantage’s mother and join the Recon class alongside Bloodhound, Crypto, Seer, and Vantage. In a recent X post by @TitanVoltaic, it was revealed that the ultimate ability of the upcoming Season 23 legend will be called Great Hunt. This matches the vivid description of the great hunting prowess of Xenia Contreras, Vantage’s mother.
However, these are speculations based on recent findings and the final release may have a completely different set of abilities. That said, let's look at the details of the possible ultimate ability of Artemis in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends Artemis rumored to receive a modified crossbow as Ultimate ability
The X post had a few pointers and cited that the upcoming Recon legend is likely going to wield a crossbow. However, considering the game files that were discovered, her signature ability should be a targeting-based one, similar to Ballistic’s ability. So the newfound ability seems to be for the ultimate slot.

It is reportedly going to be called Great Hunt and has an eerie similarity to Bloodhound. But in every instance where Vantage’s mother was discussed, Xenia was described as a strong-willed person with expert hunting ability. If we consider such information, both the targeted ability and an ultimate called Great Hunt fit the Artemis character completely.
Vantage’s ultimate ability, Sniper’s Mark, provides her with a third weapon other than the two players can carry in the loadout. So it is not a far-fetched idea that the Great Hunt would equip Artemis with a lethal crossbow that can shoot out a barrage of arrows. Ballistic has a similar ability that allows him to carry a third weapon and there is also Rampart’s infamous Sheila minigun.

There is also a small possibility that the crossbow is introduced as the signature ability and the Great Hunt marks enemies in an area around the player. This would make the new legend compete with the existing Bloodhound meta. But there are more questions than answers at this point since the miners have only been able to dig up named files and older reference images.
The crossbow is likely going to be burst-fire or fully automatic since the game already has a single fire arrow type weapon, Bocek. The developers might even make it charge-based, similar to Vantage, where a single charge provides you with a certain number of arrows for the crossbow. This would be a great step as players would not have to carry around a third type of ammunition.
It is important to note that these assumptions are based on recent Artemis findings by dataminers and have not been officially confirmed by Electronic Arts or Respawn Entertainment. Fans and enthusiasts can keep an eye out for the official X page of Apex Legends for announcements.
