The recent Game Awards show brought within it many surprises, including an all-new co-op title based on a world parallel to that of the 2022 Game of The Year winner Elden Ring. With a 2025 release window, Elden Ring Nightrein will make its way onto the PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X and S consoles as a stand-alone title, separate from the main game.
Though the reveal trailer mentioned it as a cooperative experience with up to three people being able to join forces together, speculation suggests that it may also feature a gameplay element akin to that of the immensely popular Fortnite Battle Royale. Below is a look at this rumor, and what may be expected.

A gameplay feature in Elden Ring Nightrein may be similar to that of Fortnite
On the game's official website, the description mentions a day-night cycle, with the map size reducing each time nightfall occurs in the game. This will occur thrice in a match, which will have the map gradually reduce in size. This may be considered similar to Fortnite's storm circle feature, where the playable area on the map decreases due to the incoming storm after a set duration.
Additionally, YouTuber ExoGhost mentioned via their X post that the game seems to be a fast-paced experience with each cycle lasting around 30 minutes in length. They also added that players' entry into the map seems to be from above, which can be considered similar to Fortnite's battle bus system.
However, do note that the same is simply speculative, and Bandai Namco will likely reveal more details as the game's release date draws closer. With the success of the recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, FromSoftware's next foray seems to be an interesting one.
