Ubisoft may be working on introducing a third-person mode with Far Cry 7, the next major installment in the open-world franchise, if a recent job listing is anything to go by. The newly revealed role clearly states that the publisher wants to hire someone who can create animation systems in the third-person perspective alongside the traditional first-person format.

Redditor fearmept recently spotted a job role shared by Ubisoft on its Careers portal. The user mentioned the publisher is reportedly trying to hire someone with knowledge of creating animations in the third-person for the next Far Cry project, which is rumored to be Far Cry 7.

The official link to the job listing by Ubisoft is related to the role of Senior gameplay animator for a title called the Far Cry project. Under the description, there's a clear mention of third-person elements alongside first-person animations.

"You create animation systems for the player in First Person view, as well as the equivalent replication animation (3rd person)."

Furthermore, the job role indicates the publisher might use mocap to include third-person animations in Far Cry 7. Below are several Systems the selected candidate will work on while creating first-person and third-person animations in the project:

  • Gunplay
  • Takedowns
  • Synched systems
  • Carrying
  • Locomotion and navigation

Far Cry 6 wasn't something many fans were excited for and Ubisoft will now likely try to reinvent the series by giving players a good experience with the next installment. Hopefully, the new game will end up impressing the community.
