Although the Nintendo Switch 2 was one of the most anticipated gaming hardware of 2024, we were unable to witness its release this year. But the silver lining is that Nintendo has confirmed that the console will be announced before April 2024. While we witnessed a leak regarding Switch 2 accessories a while back, thanks to a recent social media post, more information regarding the console has come to light.
The post was uploaded on Facebook by Towkay Vortex who shared a few images of a blue silicone case for Nintendo Switch 2. The post also revealed a few minor details about the console. Posting images of the case, he also wrote:
"Switch accessories company has just sent me an email that they will have 3 models of Switch 2 Accessories. Do you want to order case, first?”
This post was later reposted on the r/NintendoSwitch 2 subreddit on Reddit a few hours ago. This subreddit claims to be the number one discussion board for Switch 2 leaks and announcements. But what can be assumed about the upcoming handheld after looking at these pictures? Let's find out.

Nintendo Switch 2 will have more Type-C ports!
Having more Type-C ports is a basic requirement these days. Taking a look at these leaks, it is safe to assume that Nintendo will finally provide multiple Type-C ports. While previously only one port was provided for docking the console or charging it, this time around we can expect to see two ports. The first port will be located at the same spot as the Switch OLED and the second will be on top of the console, similar to handhelds like the Asus Rog Ally.
The speaker grill of the Nintendo Switch 2 will also look a little bigger than the current Switch, which might provide better audio while gaming. Another change compared to the current Switch OLED is the U-shaped kickstand. While no practical usage of this can be assumed at the moment, we won't know anything for sure until we get the Nintendo Switch 2 in hand.
Moving on to the Joy-Cons, while the basic button layout looks the same as the current generation, the triggers look slightly bigger. This will likely be a positive thing, especially since the triggers on the current Switch are too small for people with bulky hands. Apart from this, the back of the Joy-Con also features a mysterious button. It might be the button to remove the Joy-Cons, or it might be a programmable button like the one present in Asus Rog Ally.
However, considering they like to keep things simple, it is unlikely that Nintendo will add a programmable button. And since these are just leaks, nothing can be said for sure about what purpose this button will serve. Not to mention, if this button is actually for removing the Joy-Cons, it might be a wise move as it is a lot bigger than the current button, whose small form factor makes it uncomfortable to use.
