Super Mario Bros Wonder is one of October 2023's biggest AAA releases, but some fans may have gotten their hands on it early. Digital copies of the upcoming 2D platformer have seemingly leaked online, which means one can get the game via illegal means and play it before launch on their Nintendo Switch.

So, those who are looking forward to Super Mario Bros Wonder may want to stay away from the internet for a few days to avoid spoilers. However, a few interesting details have also been brought to light with regard to the game's tech profile.

This would not be the first time a Nintendo game has leaked online. The Japanese company's previous major offering, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, also had digital copies leaked online days before the official launch. This meant many players who got their hands on the game could play it beforehand, especially those who chose emulation on PC.

Leaks pertaining to Super Mario Bros Wonder may soon start flooding the virtual space, so fans who dislike spoilers should avoid social media and video-sharing platforms like YouTube for the time being.

The Super Mario series has never been story-centric, and the same is true of this latest installment. However, Nintendo is known for packing in unique and fun gameplay elements and mechanics, seeing which beforehand can spoil the surprise for eager fans.

But, it isn't all bad news. With this supposed leak, we have received an interesting tidbit about the engine behind Super Mario Bros Wonder. As per a post by @GhoulmealDome on X (formerly Twitter), the game seems to be using the "ModuleSystem" engine.

This tech was also supposedly used for previous Nintendo Switch titles, namely Splatoon 3 and even The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Since Nintendo is big on using custom engines for getting the most out of their games, this is not particularly surprising. Super Mario Bros Wonder is a looker in terms of visuals, and we can surely expect solid performance across the board as well.

The game is being developed by Nintendo's EPD division and is slated to release on October 20, 2023. As is series tradition, it will be a Nintendo-exclusive game, which means it will be available only on the Nintendo Switch hybrid console platform. In fact, the publisher is even launching a Mario-themed Nintendo Switch OLED console to celebrate the occasion.

With the murmurs surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2, it would be a no-brainer to see the game on a next-gen platform. However, with no official announcement in sight, fans are awaiting a debut reveal first.
