Is XDefiant shutting down?
According to the leaker, several sources revealed that the game will end its support if it fails to bring the player base within Season 4. During the release, the game had almost 8,50,000 concurrent users. However, that fell to nearly 20,000 within five months, which is a massive fall for a multiplayer game.
While the game was initially praised by FPS enthusiasts, one of the biggest reasons XDefiant failed to retain the fanbase is the poor post-launch service. Despite being a free-to-play game, compared to Call of Duty, there wasn't enough post-launch content for players to engage in. The developers introduced Ranked Play and Battle Pass, but every new season, there weren't enough maps or modes to explore.

Furthermore, the competition in the FPS genre is huge in the current world of gaming. Competing with existing industry leaders is already difficult; hence, XDfiant needs something new and fresh. Although XDefiant collaborated with many popular Ubisoft franchises like Ghost Recon and Watchdogs, fans believe the game has lost its potential.
The leaker further revealed that a research team at Ubisoft has actively asked their tester to have in-house sessions for feedback. Depending on that feedback, they might decide the future of XDefiant. However, as the current scenario stands, it's not looking good for the supposed COD killer by Ubisoft.
