It looks like the homicidal animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy’s will be coming back to haunt your dreams. According to a splash page on their main website, developers Scott Games seem to be planning a Five Night’s at Freddy’s 4. Dubbed ‘The Final Chapter’, the image showcases a more deranged form of the game's titular character with a release date of October 31st, 2015.
Five Nights at Freddy’s has been extremely popular among mobile users ever since its release in 2014. The game packs enough jump-scares and creepy characters to keep horror fans entertained. It has even gained popularity online due to a number of YouTube videos.
While announcements for a new game are usually made shortly before its launch, the revealing, this time, seems to have come a bit earlier. This will, in all likelihood, be the last Five Night’s at Freddy’s game to release, so it is no surprise that developer Scott Cawthon will need some extra time in polishing up the title.
All three of the Five Nights at Freddy’s titles were released within a year, from August 2014 to March 2015. Development does not take much time in this game’s case due to its simplistic nature. However, there were still enough hints and hidden storytelling for curious fans to pick up, like why the animatronics were haunted to begin with.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 was originally supposed to be the last game in the series. So, the newest title could largely be due to the recent announcement of a film adaptation.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 is expected to release on October 31st, 2015. The franchise’s previous entry can now be purchased on Steam.
