Rare recently revealed their plans for June 2023 in Sea of Thieves, with the upcoming update bringing several changes to the Captaincy mode and its offerings in-game. It will also feature a Captain's Week event, which will introduce all the stated changes of the June 2023 update. Rare will also award qualifying Captains the Gilded Sovereign Captain's Table for their in-game bravado and accomplishments.
The Captaincy Mode was introduced to Sea of Thieves in Season 7, allowing players to become captains of their ships as they sail the treacherous waters. Pirates can achieve this in-game by buying their own ships (Sloop, Brigantine, or Galleon) at the main menu screen.
Being the Captain also allows players to make use of a number of new mechanics and features, including naming the ship, restoring the ship, trinkets, Captain's voyages, Sovereign NPCs, Milestones, and more.

Sea of Thieves will update Captaincy Mode in June 2023
The announcement for the June 2023 update was shared on the game's official website recently. The salient points from the same are as follows:
Milestone Balancing Adjustments
- Rare will seek to rebalance several Pirate and Ship Milestones. Their aim is to make it easier for players to gain Classes, meaning that getting to Legendary status in any Milestone Alignment will be quicker once the update arrives.
- Furthermore, players who already have made Milestone progress need not worry as the entirety of it will be converted to the new system as soon as it arrives.
Trinket Unlock Adjustments
- While the four tiers of Trinkets currently open at Class 10, 20, 50, and 100, the latest update will tweak this set to Class 5, Class 10, Class 20, and Class 30.
Saving Ship Cosmetics
- The upcoming updates will reportedly remove the cost of saving cosmetics to players' ships.
Trinket and Decoration Pricing Adjustments
- The upcoming update will reportedly reduce the gold cost for both ship decorations and Trinkets significantly.
Captain's Cosmetics Adjustments
- The upcoming update will reportedly reduce the gold cost for Captain's ship cosmetics significantly, including Captain's Tables, Drapes, Beds, Rugs, Chairs, Chandeliers, and Curtains.
- Players will be able to unlock Captain's Beds at Class 2, which you used to unlock at Class 5.
Captain's Week
- As mentioned above, the reported changes will be added with a Captain's Week event where players can get their hands on cosmetic rewards and a gold multiplier while captaining their ships.
How to get the Gilded Sovereign Captain's Table in Sea of Thieves
While talking about the upcoming June 2023 update, Rare revealed that they would award Sea of Thieves Captains who have a "high standing" by providing them with the Gilded Sovereign Captain's Table. This will be available to those players who have accomplished "certain Pirate Milestones before Captain's Week begins in June."
Those who have scaled up to Class 50 in any of the available Pirate Milestones (except Nautical Miles Sailed, Days at Sea, Provisions Cooked, Provisions Eaten, and Cannons Fired) can get the following possible exclusive rewards:
- The Gold Seeker
- The Voyager
- The Emissary
- The Hunter
- The Feared
- The Guardian
- The Servant.
