Should you choose Wise (Male MC) or Belle (Female MC) in Zenless Zone Zero?

Newcomers to HoYoverse’s Zenless Zone Zero will be faced with an interesting conundrum at the start of the game. They must choose between Weiss (Male MC) and Belle (Female MC). While there are virtually zero differences between the two MCs in terms of game progression, certain story choices can be affected by this decision.

Zenless Zone Zero will offer players a choice between Wise and Belle - a brother-sister duo who offer their services as a “Proxy”, guiding “Agents” into hazardous zones inflicted with Hollow corruption.

The pair serve as the game’s dual protagonists and are central to the game’s events. Unlike prior HoYoverse titles, such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, both Belle and Wise have equal parts in the story and can be seen interacting with each other and multiple characters they encounter, both playable and non-playable.

While the MC’s gender does not affect the majority of Zenless Zone Zero’s in-game events, there do exist certain instances where Belle and Wise possess unique conversation quips that can be triggered while talking to key NPCs.

This also extends into story events, where key parts of the campaign are ever so slightly altered depending on the MC chosen.

Interestingly, neither Wise nor Belle possess combat capabilities. They simply serve as guides for Agents in Hollow infested regions, both guiding them out of harm’s way and collecting any appropriate loot in the process.

As a Proxy, you will be tasked with leading your team to success using a modified Bangboo.

As such, readers can freely choose between the two MCs, without worrying about any penalty of the sort. While I am partial to Belle, Wise also possesses certain noteworthy aspects that make him stand out on his own.
